Software Developer & artist
Johanna Odersky is a junior Scala developer with a background in Fine Arts and music production. She began exploring Scala in 2022 and quickly developed a strong affinity for its expressive, functional side. Recently, she started her first role as a Scala developer and contributes to the open-source Sounds of Scala web audio library in her free time. She developed the sampler instrument for Sounds of Scala as part of Google Summer of Code '24 under the Scala Center.
Drawn to this project not only as a developer but also as a musician, Johanna has released two albums and several EPs under the alias 'Iku' since 2015 and has performed across Europe, the U.S., Russia, and Japan. Her music heavily relies on the layering and processing of samples, making the creation of a sampler instrument particularly meaningful.
